Right. Haven't been here in a while. Time to catch up.
Last I posted, I'd been made redundant, and went to the pub. This is true. I got PISSED that night (Wednesday), and arrived more than a little hung over the following day to pick up my car in the warehouse at Office#1. OK, backstep a bit... I've mentioned before there were a few locations. I was in Office#3 (Office#2 had been evacuated due to a small problem with rodents and a phobic programmer. 'Nuff said). Office#1 was supposedly the HQ, and happens to have a warehouse with three portakabins sitting there pretending to be offices. And enough space to park a few cars. Very handy for nights out.
So /me arrives into the warehouse, drunkish, and end up talking to everyone, who's really sorry for me etc. Then I go to Office#3 (5 miles away), argue with the HR director, and pack my stuff. A few cardboard boxes and phone calls later, I potter off home, and that's all I can remember of Thursday.
And then came the weekend I've been talking about for months. The wedding.
Of course, it went extremely well. One or two things getting in the way, but otherwise, extremely well. The fact that I had a MAJOR excuse to let it all go and just get locked helped enormously. Aside from driving. We hired a car after all. Good move, really.
So, got home, met an agency, met some friends for lunch during the week, more agencies, playing computer games, going swimming a few times, playing jazz in a bad formative quartet, general hanging out kinda fun stuff. Two weeks on I still have no job.
Although for the first time ever I'm drawing the dole! This is a weird experience for me - never have I been in this situation. I'll let you know how the first payment feels when I get it.
So there you go. Two weeks worth of effective holiday, and I'm SOO chilled out. It's cool. Badly need a haircut, but that's nearly irrelevant. I'll worry about that when an interview happens.
